Colorado Laws Against Surviving in Public

The following are laws in Colorado cities which place criminal sanctions on acts of survival in public space which people without homes have no option but to do in public space. This is not a comprehensive list but a sampling of some Colorado cities.

The Right to Rest Act would give Coloradans the legal right to perform basic acts of rest prohibited by many of these local codes. This bill would not make it legal to aggressively panhandle, obstruct a passageway, or urinate or defecate in public. The larger Homeless Bill of Rights Campaign instead calls for the creation of restrooms and hygiene centers to met the need for somewhere to relieve oneself and wash up.
